Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion
- Read 2 Corinthians 1:23-2:4. What grief would Paul have caused the Corinth church? Think about what Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians. How could this cause doubts in the Corinthians’ minds regarding Paul’s motives for ministry?
- What the difference between a pastoral ministry which “lords it over you” and one which “works for your joy”? What does it mean that Paul is working “with you” for your joy?
- Consider 2 Corinthians 7:5-10. What’s the relationship between grief, repentance, and joy in Paul’s ministry? Why is “godly grief” good?
- What kind of ministry do expect from your pastor? Is this biblical? How can you submit to your leaders in a way that benefits you and them (cf. Heb. 13:17)?
