  1. Read John 15:1-11. What does the father do for us and our joy? What things does Jesus speak for the sake of our joy?
  2. When Jesus says, "These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you," what does he mean "my joy"? What is the joy of Jesus? How can his joy be in us?
  3. Explain the relationship between God's sovereign working for our joy and our responsibility to have joy (I.e. "Rejoice in the Lord!"). What comfort comes from understanding God's work on our behalf?
  4. How does fellowship with the Father, abiding in his love, and keeping his commands all work together for our joy? In which area is your joy weak? What blocks your "full joy"?
