Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion

  1. Read Mark 14:66-72. What is Peter doing in this scene? What leads him to these actions? How have you fallen in similar ways?
  2. Consider the use of the word “deny” in 2 Peter 2:1 and Jude 1:4. How is this similar to Peter’s action in Mark 14? How is it different?
  3. What’s happens in verse 72? WSC #87 says, “Repentance unto life is a saving grace, whereby a sinner, out of a true sense of his sin, and apprehension of the mercy of God in Christ, doth, with grief and hatred of his sin, turn from it unto God, with full purpose of, and endeavor after, new obedience.” Do we see repentance in Peter in Mark 14:72? Why or why not?
  4. What do you do with sinful failure in your life? What keeps you from hoping in Christ with your failure?
