Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion
1. Read Mark 15:1-15. What influences Pilate? What kind of leader is Pilate?
2. Read Matthew 27:1-2, 11-26; Luke 23:1-25; & John 18:28-19:16 for a fuller account of Pilate’s interaction with Jesus. What are some of the things Pilate is struggling with?
3. Why is Jesus so calm before Pilate?
4. One pastor says that “Pilate puts peace above truth.” What does this mean? Do you agree? Why or why not?
5. Consider Jesus’ interaction with Pilate about truth (see John 18:37-38) in light of what Jesus says about truth in John 8:31-32 & 14:6. How is truth a source of peace, comfort, stability, and freedom? How does Jesus bring this for us?
