  1. Read Mark 15:33-47. Think about all of the events that led up to and occurred at the moment of Jesus’ death. As an outside observer at the cross (without the gospel-writer’s commentary) what would you notice?
  2. What is the significance of the people Mark focuses on in the responses to the death of Jesus? What message does Mark want to communicate?
  3. In what ways are the centurion, the women, and Joseph different in their reasons for being devoted to Jesus? How are they similar?
  4. What do we learn about Jesus from their devotion?
  5. How do you awaken “devotion to Jesus” in your life?
