Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion

  1. Read Mark 16:1-8. What has Mark done in his writing (in both chapters 15 & 16) to support the “historicity” of the resurrection?
  2. What is the significance of the “young man’s” statement in verse 7? Compare with Mark 14:28.
  3. The oldest copies of Mark’s Gospel end with verse 8 (verses 9-20 are additions in later copies). Why would Mark end his gospel so abruptly with verse 8?
  4. Read 1 Corinthians 15 (especially verses 1-28) for Paul’s full theological commentary on the resurrection. Why is the resurrection so important?
  5. What does it mean for us to be “raised with Christ” (Eph. 2:6)? How does the resurrection make a difference in our lives now?
