- Read Psalm 110. What is the significance of David writing this Psalm? Consider Mark 12:35-37.
- Psalm 110:1 is the most quoted OT verse in the New Testament. Consider some of these NT uses of the verse. How did the NT writers interpret Psalm 110:1? See Acts 2:34-35, 7:56; 1 Corinthians 15:25; Ephesians 1:20; Colossians 3:1; Hebrews 1:3, 13, 12:2; and 1 Peter 3:22.
- Who are the enemies of the Messiah (v. 2)? What does it mean for the Messiah to rule in the midst of his enemies? How does the church work with the Messiah in fighting against the enemies (cf. 2 Cor 10:3-6; Eph. 6:12)?
- How are Christians to understand verses 5 & 6? How can the King give both mercy and judgment?
