Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion

  1. Read Jonah 3:1-10. Why does God come to call Jonah a second time? Why wouldn’t he just give up Jonah after the episode of chapter 1?
  2. What was Jonah to call out to Nineveh (see verse 2, not 4)? Why is this significant?
  3. How do the people of Nineveh respond to the message from Jonah? What are the components of revival? What would revival look like in your life?
  4. How should we understand verse 10? Consider verse 10 in light of Numbers 23:19. How does Jesus’ sacrifice figure into God’s relenting of disaster?

Memory Verse of the Week: Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it. (ESV)
