Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion
- Read Jonah 3:1-10. Why does God come to call Jonah a second time? Why wouldn’t he just give up Jonah after the episode of chapter 1?
- What was Jonah to call out to Nineveh (see verse 2, not 4)? Why is this significant?
- How do the people of Nineveh respond to the message from Jonah? What are the components of revival? What would revival look like in your life?
- How should we understand verse 10? Consider verse 10 in light of Numbers 23:19. How does Jesus’ sacrifice figure into God’s relenting of disaster?
Memory Verse of the Week: Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it. (ESV)
