Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion

  1. Read Galatians 1:1-10. Describe the “tone” of this opening? Compare this opening with some of Paul’s other letters (i.e. Philippians, Colossians, 1 & 2 Corinthians). What’s different? What’s missing from Galatians? Why is this significant?
  2. Unique to Galatians’ greeting is Paul’s comments about his apostleship (verse 1) and the description of Christ in verse 4. Why are these two extra descriptions important for a group of people at risk of abandoning the gospel?
  3. Why is the supremacy of God’s glory so important to our understanding of our salvation? What effect does God’s glory in salvation have on us?
  4. How is the Galatians’ situation similar to ours? What value does this letter have for our lives and church?

Memory Verse of the Week: Psalm 115:1 (ESV) Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness!
