Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion
- Read Galatians 1:1-10. Describe the “tone” of this opening? Compare this opening with some of Paul’s other letters (i.e. Philippians, Colossians, 1 & 2 Corinthians). What’s different? What’s missing from Galatians? Why is this significant?
- Unique to Galatians’ greeting is Paul’s comments about his apostleship (verse 1) and the description of Christ in verse 4. Why are these two extra descriptions important for a group of people at risk of abandoning the gospel?
- Why is the supremacy of God’s glory so important to our understanding of our salvation? What effect does God’s glory in salvation have on us?
- How is the Galatians’ situation similar to ours? What value does this letter have for our lives and church?
Memory Verse of the Week: Psalm 115:1 (ESV) Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness!
