Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion

  1. Read Galatians 1:11-24. Why is it so important to Paul to prove that the gospel he preached is “not man’s gospel”? What would make a gospel be “man’s gospel”?
  2. How does Paul argue his case? What does he appeal to in order to prove that this gospel is not from man?
  3. What do we learn about God and his ways in conversion in verses 15-16? In what ways can you see that you have been “set apart,” “called,” and had the son “revealed” to you?
  4. What was Paul doing in Arabia, Damascus, Syria, and Cilicia? How did this time prepare him for his ministry? Why was this time necessary?
  5. How does the power of the supernatural gospel bring assurance of salvation? What authority does this gospel have in your life?

Memory Verse of the Week: 1 Corinthians 15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me. (ESV)
