Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion

  1. Read Galatians 2:15-21. Verse 17 seems to be a response from Paul’s critics. What is their critique with justification by faith alone as presented in verse 16?
  2. Verse 18 is Paul’s response to the critique in verse 17. How does depending on the law for righteousness (rebuilding what has been torn down) promote sin?
  3. What does Paul mean in verse 19 by saying he has died to the law through the law? How does verse 20 help us understand what Paul is explaining?
  4. How does Christ’s death become everything to a Christian? What difference does his death make in your love for Him and your actions in life?
  5. What are some ways Christians end up nullifying the grace of God? What can we do to make much of the grace of God?

Memory Verse of the Week: Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (ESV)
