Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:
- Read Zechariah 3:1-10. Why would Satan want to accuse Joshua? On what basis could Satan accuse Joshua?
- What does the description in verse 2 (“a brand plucked from the fire”) communicate?
- What theological reality is taking place in verse 3? Why is it significant to see justification in the Old Testament?
- Compare verse 7 with “charges” from the New Testament like Ephesians 4:1, 1 Peter 1:13-16, and 1 John 4:7-11. What always precedes a “charge”? Why is this important?
- Verses 8-10 reveal that these Old Testament events foreshadow the Kingdom of the Branch. Who is the Branch? What is promised for “that day”?
Memory Verse of the Week:
Isaiah 64:6 We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away. (ESV)
