Behold, the Lamb of God!

Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read John 1:19-34. Who are these people who come out to question John the Baptist? What do they want?
  2. What does John say about his identity? How does he demonstrate humility about his identity? In what way should we imitate John?
  3. Read Isaiah 40:1-5. How does this prophecy correspond with John’s ministry of baptism? How does John’s baptism “prepare the way of the Lord”?
  4. What does John declare about Jesus? Unpack the significance of his declaration in verse 29. Why does he call Jesus the “Lamb of God”? How does he take away sin? What do we need to do to enjoy this magnificent work?
