- Read Matthew 1:18-25. What catches your attention for this passage, giving Joseph’s perspective?
- Why would Joseph “fear” to marry Mary? Why would he want to divorce her “quietly”?
- Why is the title “Son of David” significant in Matthew 1? What does this title say about Jesus?
- “Jesus” is the Greek form of the Hebrew “Joshua.” How are the OT Joshuas (Joshua of leading Israel into the Promised Land and the High Priest in Zech. 6:11-13) foreshadows of Christ?
- Consider Is. 60:18-20, Ezek. 48:35, and Rev. 21:23. D.A. Carson says, “No greater blessing can be conceived than for God to dwell with his people.” What does it mean for Jesus to receive this title, “God with us”? What blessing do you enjoy by knowing Jesus?
