The Love of Christ & Suffering
- What is Love?
- What is God’s Aim in my Suffering?
- How Then Shall We Live?
Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:
- Read John 11:1-16. What is Jesus’ relationship with the three siblings?
- Consider the logic between verses 5 & 6. What does the conjunction “so” at the beginning of verse 6 communicate?
- What would we consider to be a normal response of love to the news of someone’s illness? How is Jesus’ response different?
- What is a biblical definition of love? What is the greatest thing that God’s love for us accomplishes?
- What does this passage teach us about God’s purposes in our suffering? How should we live in light of this truth?
Memory Verse of the Week:
Romans 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. (ESV)
