That Which Shapes Us

Praying Like You Mean It

  • The Posture
  • The Privilege
  • The Purpose

Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read Matthew 6:7-13. How do the Gentiles pray? What reason are we given to not pray like the Gentiles?
  2. In what ways is the Lord’s Prayer the model for prayer? What is the structure of the Lord’s Prayer?
  3. Take a look back and reflect on the two quotes on pg. 3 of this bulletin. How might our prayer life (of lack of prayer) reveal where we have put our trust?
  4. To what end or goal ought we to pray our supplications? How does the structure of the Lord’s Prayer inform our life’s priorities?
  5. How can you practically grow in your prayer life (individually and communally) this week?

Memory Verse of the Week:

Matthew 6: 9-13: Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. (ESV)
