- Read John 18:1-11. What strikes you as different in this Garden arrest from the other Gospels? Why do you think John records what he does?
- What stands out about Jesus in these verses? How is he able to be calm and confident in the face of certain torture and death?
- Jesus’ answer in verse 5 simply is “I am” (repeated in v. 6 & 8). In light of the soldiers response in verse 6, what is Jesus revealing in this moment?
- What hardship or trial are you currently facing? How does Jesus’ confidence in the face of trial comfort you? How does Jesus alleviate anxieties?
