- Read John 20:10-18. What catches your attention in this passage? What emotions would Mary, Peter, and John experience at the various points in the narrative?
- How does darkness (i.e., pain, suffering, despair, grief, etc.) stifle truth? Why is it important to be mindful of this?
- What does John believe in verse 8? Compare with his purpose for writing in verse 31.
- Why does Mary remain at the tomb in verse 11? What is she seeking? Read Proverbs 8:17. How does this become true for Mary?
- What notes of hope, encouragement, and good news are in the message Mary is to bring to the disciples (v. 17)? Where are the disciples at this moment? What are they experiencing?
