Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read Isaiah 58:1-14. In verses 1-5, it seems like God’s people are doing everything right in their devotion to God (especially v. 2). What is their transgression for God to declare?
  2. In what ways are you just like these people and their false humility?
  3. In what does God delight according to verses 6-12? What do these activities look like in Johnson County and the KC metro area?
  4. From verses 13-14, why is the Sabbath so important? How is your Sabbath keeping practice?
  5. What are the blessings promised for faithful service? Is this salvation by works? Why or why not?
  6. How do the promised blessings lead to faithful service?

Memory Verse of the Week:

Isaiah 58:10 If you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday. (ESV)
