  1. Read Matthew 6:19-24. What is “laying up treasure”? What are some ways people lay up treasure for themselves?
  2. Why is laying up treasure for ourselves on earth so dangerous? So spiritually dangerous?
  3. Why is our heart tied to our treasure? What implications does verse 21 have for how we live?
  4. What does the eye analogy in verses 22-23 add to the discussion about treasures and our hearts?
  5. Verse 24 sounds like a totalitarian demand. Why does God require sole allegiance? Read the Reflection quote on page 3 from D.A. Carson. Why is divided loyalty ultimately idolatry?
