Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read Ephesians 1:15-19. What is “this reason” that motivates Paul to pray for the Ephesians? In other words, how is the praise in verses 3-14 connected with the prayer in this section? What normally motivates you to pray?
  2. With what sort of posture does Paul pray?
  3. For what does Paul pray? Why is knowledge so important for the Christian life?
  4. What are the three things Paul prays that we would know? How are they connected to the blessings of verses 3-14?
  5. What difference does it make in Christian living to know God’s calling, inheritance, and power for us?

Memory Verse of the Week:

Ephesians 1:16-17 I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him. (ESV)
