Ephesians: Walk Worthy
Of Sin
Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:
- Read Ephesians 2:1-9. Ignoring the chapter break, how does this section tie with Paul’s prayer in verses 17-20? What words are repeated from 1:20 in 2:6? What is the link in Paul’s mind?
- What picture is Paul painting in verses 1-3? According to this picture, what can humans do for the sake of their salvation?
- Why do we tend to downplay the seriousness of sin? What are the consequences of downplaying sin?
- Consider the Reflection on page 3. Why does the author say, “My sin is my biggest problem”? Why is it good to deepen our sorrow over our own sin?
- Martin Luther’s first Thesis was, “When our Lord and Master Jesus Christ said ‘Repent,’ he intended that the entire life of believers should be repentance.” Why should repentance be prominent in our Christian life?
Memory Verse of the Week:
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (ESV)
