Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read Ephesians 2:11-22. In what ways do we still see hostility between groups of people today, like the hostility between Jews and Gentiles?
  2. Is there any hope of relational reconciliation apart from Christ? Why or why not?
  3. What does Christ do for those who are “in Christ”? How does he accomplish this?
  4. Paul uses three metaphors in verses 19-21 to describe the new community in Christ: kingdom, family, temple. What do each add to our understanding of Christian community?
  5. According to this passage, what ought the church community look like? In what ways do we fall short? What can you do to help the church reflect the new society Christ is forming?
