- The Unity of the Trinity and The Body
- The Unity of the Trinity and Love
Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:
- Read Ephesians 4:1-6. What is the logical connection between verses 1-3 and verses 4-6? In other words, how does the confession of verses 4-6 impact the commands of verses 1-3?
- Paul mentions of three persons of the Trinity in verses 4-6. What does he reveal or confess about each person? Why is this significant?
- In what ways is the confession of verses 4-6 completely counter-cultural today?
- Some commentators believe Paul has in mind Deuteronomy 6:4 when he wrote Ephesians 4:4-6. What similarities are there between these two passages? Differences?
- The “Shema” of Deuteronomy 6:4 is followed by the greatest commandment in 6:5. How does confessional truth impact love for God? How does love for neighbor play a part (think again of the relationship between 4:4-6 and 4:1-3)?
Memory Verse of the Week:
Ephesians 4:4-6 There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call—one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. (ESV)
