Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read Ephesians 4:25. The “therefore” links this command to the teaching on verses 17-24. Why is speaking truth an essential implication to that truth?
  2. What all is involved in falsehood that we should put away? Consider Westminster Larger Catechism question 145 on page 18 in the bulletin.
  3. Where is falsehood rooted (see Jer. 17:9 & Matt. 12:34)? Why is falsehood a matter of the heart? For what does our hearts desire that lead to falsehood?
  4. Why does Paul ground the command in the truth about the body of Christ (members of one another)? Why is truth essential for the church?
  5. What is the remedy for falsehood?
