  1. Read Ephesians 4:29. What is corrupting talk? Why is it so difficult to stop speaking corrupting talk?
  2. The word for “corrupting” is used in Matthew 12:33 (translated “bad”). How does Matthew 12:33-37 help us understand Ephesians 4:29?
  3. What are building words? Can you give examples from Scripture? Consider Hebrews 3:12-13.
  4. What does Paul mean by “as fits the occasion”? What does this say about gossip? Ill-timed advice?
  5. Trace Paul’s use of the word “grace” in Ephesians. How can we “give grace” through our speech?
