Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read Ecclesiastes 11:1-12:8. The Preacher continually reminds us of our inability to control the times and the many unknowns in life. What is the purpose of the Preacher to remind us of this?
  2. In the midst of all the unknowns in life, what is the Preacher’s advice for us? How does having the reality of both death and eternity help us to heed to the Preacher’s wise words?
  3. How would you describe to someone what living a “full life” looks like? How does this compare to Ecclesiastes (and the rest of Scripture) view on living life to the full?
  4. What are some ways that you try to have “reality adjust to you” rather than the other way around? Who does the Preacher urge for us to remember in Ecclesiastes 12:1? How does this command reorient us to the reality of who God is, who we are, and the things of life as they are?
  5. How does this section of Ecclesiastes wisely draw our hearts to hope in the gospel of Jesus Christ alone?

 Memory Verse of the Week:

Galatians 6:9-10 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.” (ESV)
