  • The Presence of Trials
  • The Purpose of Trials
  • The Provision in Trials

Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read James 1:2-8. What are some of the ways in which you have sought God in the midst of trials? Are there any false views or perspectives about God that you had to battle as you faced trials?
  2. What does James mean when he commands us to “count it all joy” in regards to our trials?
  3. Looking at V.3-4, what is the intended goal and purpose of trials and testing in the Christian’s life?
  4. What might it look like for you to ask for wisdom from God in the midst of the trials of life? According to V. 6-8, how should and how shouldn’t we ask God for wisdom?

Memory Verse of the Week:

James 1:4 “And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” (ESV)
