Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read Genesis 2:4-15. With what features does God create the Garden of Eden? For what purposes?
  2. Read Revelation 22:1-5. What similarities and differences are there between this heavenly garden and the Garden of Eden?
  3. What does God want the man to do in the Garden (see v. 15)? The words “work” and “keep” are used of the priestly work in the tabernacle (see Num. 3:7-8, 18:5-6; 1 Chr. 23:32). In what way is man’s work in the Garden “priestly work”?
  4. Genesis 1:28 and 2:15 give us a picture of God’s vision for work. Work is not a result of the curse. In what ways is all God-honoring work the practice of dominion? Priestly work?
  5. What is your attitude towards work? How does your work bring creation under dominion for the glory of God? How does your work bless people?
