Remaining Steadfast

  • Poverty and Riches
  • Trials and Temptations
  • Grace and Truth

Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:

  1. Read James 1:9--18. Has there been a time where you have found it hard to trust God in the midst of your trials?
  2. How are James’ words to both the poor and rich encouraging and challenging? How do V. 9-11 challenge you to embrace God’s perspective on your life and your possessions?
  3. In the midst of various trials, what is often the greatest temptation that James addresses? What promises does James remind us of in order to remain steadfast? How might this wonderful promise strengthen you when you face temptations?
  4. What (or rather ‘who’) does James draw our attention to especially being aware of our prone-to-wander hearts in trials?
  5. How might God be using your present trials to grow your own understanding of just how sovereign, dependable, and gracious he is?

Memory Verse of the Week:

James 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change” (ESV)
