- God the Covenant Maker
- Adam the Covenant Breaker
- Christ the Covenant Keeper
Questions for Further Study or Group Discussion:
- Read Genesis 2:15-17. How do these commands relate to the commands given in Gen. 1:28? Why does God give the command about the tree of the knowledge of good and evil?
- What is a covenant? Why does God enter into a covenant with people? Consider WLC 20 on page 18 of the bulletin.
- Read Galatians 3:10-14 and Romans 8:3-4. Can we gain the blessing of life by obeying the law? Why or why not?
- In light of the covenant, why do we need Christ? In light of out need of Christ, why is pride so dangerous?
- What blessings are available to us because of Christ’s covenant keeping? How do we receive these blessings?
Memory Verse of the Week:
Romans 8:3 For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh. (ESV)
